Terms of Use
Beta version · last updated 1 November 2026
The deal
Turtle Talk connects you with another adult for a short spoken language exchange. You're the 🐢 learner in one round and the 🐇 native speaker in the other. It's a free beta, run by Max Auracher as a private individual and provided as-is. It may change or stop. Before the store launch, a company (Spanish SL) will take over and these terms will be updated.
You must
- Be 18 or older.
- Use it for language practice only. No dating, flirting, sexual content, harassment, hate, spam, ads or asking for money.
- Be kind with corrections.
- Not share anyone's clips outside the app, and not share private details such as your address or bank details.
Community rules
Turtle Talk has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Not allowed in clips, notes or names:
- Harassment, bullying, threats or insults.
- Sexual or explicit content, flirting or dating requests.
- Hate speech or discrimination (race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, nationality).
- Anything involving minors, or users under 18.
- Violence, self-harm encouragement, or illegal activity.
- Spam, ads, scams, or asking for money or personal details.
- Sharing someone else's clips or private information.
Safety, reports and blocking
Every chat screen has ⚑ Report / Block. You can report a specific clip and give a reason. Blocking ends the chat immediately, and the two of you can't be put in a chat together again.
We review reports within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these rules and suspend or ban the account responsible. Accounts reported by several different chat partners, or reported as possibly under 18, are paused automatically until we've reviewed them.
If someone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number (112 in the EU).
How decisions are made
- A person reviews every report. Automatic pauses are temporary until that review.
- Decisions are always based on a specific clip, note or behaviour and a specific rule above, never on vague labels.
- You can ask for a review from the pause screen in the app.
- Only reports from people you actually chatted with count, so mass-reporting by strangers doesn't work.
- We don't remove anything because of your opinions, politics or where you're from, as long as it follows the rules above. Mentioning other apps or swapping contacts with someone you trust is your choice. Just remember that strangers off-platform aren't covered by our safety tools.
Your content
Your clips stay yours. You give us permission to store them and deliver them to your chat partner, and only for that purpose.
Liability
Other users aren't checked or vetted. We're not responsible for what they say, but we will act on reports. Nothing here limits your rights under Spanish or EU consumer law.
